Huntsville-Madison County 911 Moves into New Facility

Alabama’s largest and most advanced emergency communications center officially moved into its new state-of-the-art facility.

Huntsville-Madison County 911 Center (HMC 911), which dispatches over 240,000 emergency calls annually, transitioned operations into a new 30,000 square foot building that houses eight local public safety agencies. The new HMC 911 doubles the space of the old facility allowing the public safety agencies to grow as rapidly as the Huntsville-Madison County area is growing.

HMC 911 is a functional space that optimizes system and employee performance, allowing HMC 911 to better serve you. During the move, HMC 911 upgraded their telephone system, 911 network, cyber security software and IP-based interoperable P25 radio system. The center features a dual uninterruptible power supply and two 400 kilowatt diesel generators that will keep operations performing normally in the event of a power outage.

HEPA filters and UV lighting in the ventilation coupled with increased distance between workspaces provides a healthier work environment for employees. Employees are the top priority--to ensure that employees have a safe and comfortable work environment, the new HMC 911 includes a spacious break area and kitchen facility as well as an exercise room and outdoor walking track. In the event of prolonged stays, bunk rooms and showers will allow for employees to continue serving you in a safe and comfortable environment. Advanced 911 training facilities will ensure call takers are able to continue learning, growing and better serving you.

Huntsville-Madison County 911 is here to serve you for years to come!
