The Huntsville-Madison County 911 Center is seeking qualified individuals to join our team of dedicated 911 Calltakers. We need responsible and motivated people that have a passion to help others. This exciting career field will provide you this opportunity and will allow you to help others far beyond what most people will ever experience. 911 Calltakers answer 911 emergency calls and process or reroute them to emergency agencies (police, fire, medical) as needed. Calltakers follow a computerized protocol system that guides them step-by-step to gather the appropriate information and ask callers life-saving questions. Calltakers also use location and mapping systems to aid in locating 911 callers. Calltakers accomplish all of this and more while working in a new state-of-the-art 911 building with cutting-edge technology.
New Calltakers receive up to 12 weeks of training. Each is assigned a trainer/mentor who guides and teaches them the intricate components of 9-1-1 calltaking, to include techniques to properly communicate with 9-1-1 callers during highly emotional and stressful emergencies.
We strive to make a difference by serving the people of our community in their time of greatest need. If you are like minded and passionate about helping others, apply now and begin the first step to realizing your next personal and professional goal.
